Jet-Lagged Ramblings

well, I am officially back to my mundane life in SC today. I flew home from Delaware yesterday and while I sort of lament my somewhat gratutious post on how useless the whole state is, I still find the concept of Delaware pretty amusing.
Megan and Jared did prove to the group that they do have respectable eating establishments, complete with coverage of all the upsets and beat downs of basketball this weekend, when they took us to a "Pajama Brunch" at a place called Buckley's in Centreville, DE. The basic premise of "Pajama Brunch" is that you wear your pajamas to the restaurant to dine and then you get compensated in some manner by a discount on food of some sort. We, however, did not wear our nighttime apparel as no one had been there before and we were a bit suspicious as to whether other patrons would be dining in skimpy lingerie or full-on flannel. Unfortunately, we discovered that those that shouldn't necessarily be wearing the less-coverage options were actually the patrons that flaunted them most unabashedly. However, the food was good and it was a nice way to recover from the previous night's wine-tasting/boozefest.

Overall, the weekend was precisely what I needed in the form of QT with my closest friends and best sounding boards. I have always been a creature of comfort when it comes to friends, and I think that it is great to surround yourself daily with acquaintances that are entertaining, but the qualities of a true friend are unique in only a select few. I am fortunate enough to have an amazing circle of girlfriends that I could go to for anything, and I frequently do rely on them as my pillars of self-justification. As my friend Megan quoted upon my arrival, "I'm so glad I don't have to ask you the annoying "so what have you been up to?" because we always just pick up right where we left off!" Although I don't get to see them as frequently as I would like, I think it is the times in between that increase our enjoyment of reunions because the conversations run the gamut of appropriateness in either direction!

But, the downside of the aftermath of a weekend of stimulating conversation is that I find everything about my life at this point dull. I know this will remedy itself soon with the coming of Spring, but the wintry overhang today is enough to drive me to crawl under my desk and nap for the rest of the day in hopes of not being discovered. Unfortunately, when you work for your father, they come looking for you a little more frequently than one would like...
