Today is rainy, dreary (and on top of that, oddly humid for December), but for the sake of trying to prevent Brad from an untimely death due to boredom, I'll post something.
This morning as I was getting ready, I had the tv on the Today show, as I normally do, and I was sort of partly paying attention to an interview Matt Lauer was doing with Carrie Fisher over her new tell-all book. After getting over my initial disgusted reaction to yet another washed up former childhood star writing a tell-all book about how they did drugs, drank and had sex when they were in their late teens and early twenties (hello? doesn't that apply everyone?), I turned around to be shocked by how former Princess Leia looks these days. I mean, sure, we all get older but good Lord - I think she ate Chewbacca. To make matters worse, the title of the segment was "Wishful Drinking," however, I think in Carrie's case it was less "wishful" and more "actively" drinking. Between her random cackling, intermittent voice volume control issues and jsut general disregard for the basic structure of an interview, there was uncomfortable giggling from the production crew and a very ill-at-ease Matt Lauer, who obviously didn't know whether to keep the interview going, or just call it quits with the questions and see where this crazy broad took it. By the end of the 6 minute interview, I had received texts from three separate friends saying, "I think Carrie Fisher is drunk!"
Now, don't get me wrong, nothing gets my day going faster than watching someone publicly humiliate themselves or Matt Lauer, and by about the 3 minute mark I had fully given up on getting ready and was deeply engrossed in where this little gem of an interview was headed. I especially enjoyed the part where she called Cary Grant out for basically abusing LSD. I can just see members of the Grant estate shitting bricks and blowing up their lawyers' phones trying to get this bitch to shut up. But the icing on the cake came at about the 5:00 mark when she admits that she's currently struggling with bipolar disorder, and subliminally warning Matt that she has basically been vacillating back and forth between sane and insane for the entire interview. ahh, quality television.
Anyhoo, if you missed it this morning, no need to fear:
