30 is the new 21

Due to my mature levels of humor, wit and intelligence (please note the sarcasm with which this is typed), I have a lot of older friends. I love all of my friends, no matter what age, for their own unique qualities, but in general, I spend most of my time with a group that is at least a decade older than me.

I am constantly impressed with the fortitude and enthusiasm my 30+ year old friends party with, often out-lasting me in some ways. More than impressed, I have to say it excites me, because if I'm having this much fun in my mid-twenties, then bring on the 30's because they make it look like the greatest party known to man.

This morning I texted two of my friends (married couple) who are both 38. They're currently at the beach with another couple in their 30's and between the two couples there are 5 kids in tow. My text was replied with, "I just cracked open my first PBR." At 9 am. I informed him that I was mightily impressed, and a bit jealous I wasn't along for the undoubtedly entertaining ride.

On that same note, last weekend I spent the better part of Friday afternoon drinking wine with two of my favorite gals, ages 39 and 40. Once Friday ended, we started the party again on Saturday, carried it well into the evening and then said 39 year old and I spent most of Sunday doing the same. I have to admit, Monday morning did not feel that great, but I pushed through. 39 year old came to work Monday claiming to feel bad, but looked like she had just come from a weekend at the Day Spa - amazingly refreshed and chipper.

So, while I moan and bitch and become generally intolerable at some points about being on "the downslide to 30", I think I'm being entirely foolish. My 30-something friends have amazing energy and seem to ultimately enjoy every single second of life.

If this is what I have to look forward to, then bring it on, life!
