1 Semester Down, 5 To Go

Well, I have successfully completed my first semester of law school. "Successfully" might not be the right word, because I haven't gotten my grades back yet, but at least I felt pretty good about it, and even if I (god forbid) fail out now, at least I can say I gave it my all.

All of my friends who have gone to law school always would tell me stories about the first thing they did when they completed exams, generally something like "drink for 9 hours", or "go sit in a movie and cry", so I had great visions about how I would spend my time after completing my first law school exams.

I finished my last exam Friday night at 8:00 pm. It was cold and rainy in Charleston, and my mind was fried beyond the point of even knowing my own name, so instead of going to do anything grand or celebratory, I drove to Spartanburg. I didn't arrive there until after 11 pm, and by that point all I wanted to do was go to bed, so I did. No drinks. No confetti. No tears. Just sleep.

I did have a few (read: many) celebratory drinks the next day with Al, so the whole end process wasn't completely lost, but the feeling of relief and "it's done!" still didn't sink in until this morning when I woke up and realized that instead of sit in a windowless study room for 12 hours on end, I got to go to work. Where I have an office. With a window.

It really is the little things, sometimes...
