This past weekend was an all-around wonderful weekend. We got the first glimpse of nice weather after a crazy 3 day stint of temperatures in the teens and 8 inches of snow last week. By Saturday the thermometer in my car was reading 78 and putting me in an increasingly better mood.
Also on Saturday I managed to get outside with Al and walk, since we realized with some alarm that bathing suit season is in the not-too-distant future. (However, the temp of her pool water was 54 on Saturday, which made me think bathing suits are futher off than I initially anticipated.) Yesterday we even went to Home Depot to get color swatches for painting, etc. Ahh, Spring. How you motivate me in every avenue of my life, except for my job.
Today I'm sitting in my office, knowing it's going to be 81 degrees outside, and having the worst time ever motivating myself to get any real work done. All I want to do is be outside - walking, running, yard work, whatever. Just not in my office. Which is the problem for me from now until around the end of August; but especially that first week after Daylight Savings Time hits and the days are longer, the weather is warmer and there is more temptation than ever to be away from paperwork. So I'm sitting here, watching the pile of crap I need to accomplish this week grow, and rather than tackle it head-on, I'm finding every other excuse for something to do. This morning I actually cleaned out my file cabinet and arranged my files in alphabetical order. For no reason other than it's mindless. I know this procrastination tactic will only work for so long, but I'm going to ride that train as far as it will go!
On the other hand, I'm so happy it's finally nice outside; that I have lots of fun plans coming up in the next month or two, and that Alison wants to do a lot of home projects, because I'm a huge dork and I love stuff like that. So, welcome Spring!! You've been missed, my friend.
