Food and Ethics Friday

Tomorrow Laura and I have to take the Multi-State Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE). For anyone that knows me this probably seems like a comical oxymoron, but sadly, one must pass this exam in order to practice law in South Carolina, so I put on my best "ethical mentality" today to attempt to prepare for this beast.

In one of my many procrastination methods, I went for a rather lengthy run/walk this morning, followed by a lengthy "getting ready" session and a slow and leisurely pace towards the library. As I was walking into the library, Alex greeted me on the stairs and informed me that he and Grey had a study room in the library that they were doing trial-prep in for the day. Excited to have yet another distraction from studying ethics, and a taste of my job while at school, I joined them in the study room. Shortly after that, Laura joined me. Needless to say, Laura and I did not get much studying done, but rather, spent about 3 hours laughing with Grey and Alex as they kept us pleasantly entertained with stories. Eventually, we got hungry and decided you can't possibly learn to be ethical on an empty stomach, so we ordered Ted's Butcher Block and had Charleston Delivers do the dirty work for us. I went for the Caprese sandwich:

While Laura chose the Chicken, Avocado & Pancetta:

I have to admit, she made the better choice. The pancetta on her sandwich definitely made it, and it had a nice combo of savory and salty flavor. Mine was also good, but the fresh mozzarella was a little bland, and the tomatoes were kind of mushy, which totally overpowered the light prosciutto.

Anyway, this was the whole setup for the day:

Eventually Laura and I had to relocate to Addlestone library to get any productive work done, but we definitely appreciated the comic relief Grey and Alex provided.

Here's to being ethical, and the hopes that I at least have some sort of rudimentary grasp on the issue!
