Snow Days and Girly Ways

Today was supposed to be our first day back to class, but then the snow gods smiled on us and dumped 8 inches of snow on Spartanburg and enough ice on Charleston to cause the whole state to shut down.

School sent out an email around noon saying classes were cancelled, but the snow drifts outside my window in Spartanburg proved that I wasn't going anywhere. I was like a little kid when I woke up this morning, looked out my window and saw this:

I loafed around for a bit this morning, but eventually I couldn't resist getting out in it.

After 2 fairly lengthy walks out in the elements, I decided to go warm my frozen feet and my frozen belly. Perfect snow day bloody mary:

I then proceeded to lie around on the couch, play Scrabble and watch hours of Investigation Discovery tv. Even though I love, love, love lazy days sometimes knowing I can't go anywhere makes me a little crazy. Especially when I'm at my mother's house. And she can't go anywhere either. Hence the bloody marys...

My mom has also been bugging me the whole time I've been home for break to go through my Christmas china and take inventory. My grandmother started giving me Tiffany & Co. Christmas china about 8 years ago. Every year since then either my mom, my grandmother or Jane has given me a piece of the china, but I have never taken all of it out of the box. So, I decided that was a good project for this afternoon.

I have always loved the robin's egg blue color of the Tiffany & Co. boxes, and stacking them all on the dining room table to unwrap my china was like Christmas all over again.

I almost like the boxes better than what's inside.

All of what I have so far set out:

Even though I usually don't care about really nice, expensive items like china (because I'm the person that will inevitably break it), I love my Christmas china because it reminds me of my grandmother. I can't wait until I have a house that I can actually display it in at Christmas.

It's sleeting outside now, which makes me think I may be having at least one more snow day before I return to school. Maybe tomorrow I'll build an engine or scratch a lot and belch to counter the abundant girliness of today.
