Well, I made it to 28. Somehow the combo of law school and my antics hasn't managed to kill me yet, thankfully.
In all honesty, this was the first year in my whole life that I have actually forgotten it was my birthday. For starters, I woke up Monday morning with either a stomach bug or food poisoning, so that started my week off on a lovely note. On top of that, I had to drive to Spartanburg Monday for traffic court, where I proceeded to make a lovely appearance by passing out while the judge was swearing me in. Always the showing you want to make in court. Even though I had an exam the next night in Charleston (yes, a Con law exam on my birthday. happy day.), I decided to stay the night in Spartanburg. So, by the time I woke up yesterday morning all thoughts of my birthday were far off and I was solely focused on feeling well enough to drive back to Charleston and finish that damn exam.
But, just because I forgot my birthday doesn't mean everyone did - I felt so loved by friends it was hard to be depressed that I had to take an exam!
Laura, Tiffany, Amber and Carolyn all showered me with wine and goodies in the study room, which may have attracted the attention of some dubious 1L's who now believe that it is appropriate to bring booze to the study rooms the day of exams. While it has never been explicitly stated in school rules, I'm willing to bet that they do not condone the consumption of alcohol on school premises. Notably, the library.
Dad and Eileen delivered goodies to me at the library, and also gave me cake pops, which I think may contain some sort of crack-cocaine substance because I've never obsessed about a dessert item like I do these bad boys.
My greatest and most special gift, though, came from my beautiful Ali who always knows how to brighten my day! Apparently we take 4,340 pictures of ourselves over the course of a year because she managed to fill me a second scrapbook of all of our fun without one picture repeat from last year's book. Even though all of the individual times are fun, it makes it even more special when all the moments are recreated in one book. It's amazing we have any other friends though; we are truly obnoxious.
From the way things are looking, 28 is going to be a pretty good year! Now, if we can just get through this Torts exam on Friday...
