It's an UGGly World

At the risk of singlehandedly offending a majority of my girlfriends, I'm going to go on a soapbox rant about the horrendous abomination of footwear known as Uggs. I get it; they're warm and far be it for me to question someone's methods of staying warm in the frigid temperatures of South Carolina (read: bitter sarcasm), but for god's sake, were there no other choices?! Couldn't you put on an extra layer of socks?! Or, perhaps invest in a less androgynous way to accentuate your outfit via footwear?

As my friend Brad so notably pointed out, even the name is ridiculous - "Ugg: with a name this idiotic it's sure to be enjoyed ironically" , or "Ugg: nothing compliments a miniskirt like trenchfoot." And, what I find to be even more disturbing is the prevalence with which these horrible shoes keeping popping up. Almost everyone I know owns a pair; I myself, as a slave to peer pressure and a moment of weakness surely perpetuated by some sort of 70+ proof alcohol found myself perusing them online (thank god that buzz wore off).

In discussing with a friend who shall remain nameless today outfit choices for an upcoming event this weekend, I merely asked what type of footwear would be advisable for this outdoor shindig. She casually mentioned that she was planning on wearing her Uggs and that she recently has acquired a fondness for the paisley print Uggs. Ok. So, let me get this straight. These construction boot meets lambswool massacre clodhoppers weren't horrible enough that we have to add surely one of the worst pattern choices to them?? My curiosity naturally got the best of me, so I decided to google "paisley Uggs" and this is what my eyes were brutally met with:

oh helllllll no! I mean, why?! just, why?! After I found this picture, I then scrolled down to catch the price of these treasures. $229. I swear if I pass someone on the street with these on, I'm going to chase them down and beat them mercilessly with their own terrible choice in footwear. Maybe then they'll learn their lesson....
